£33,000 - £36,000 FTE
Hours:
30 – 37 hours per week, worked flexibly, including attendance at 1-2 evening meeting per month
Our council and the role:
Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council are looking for an experienced/qualified Deputy Clerk to help us move forward with some exciting projects as our Parish has experienced much development over recent years. We have 12 parish councillors and a staff team of 8 with an annual budget of c.£500,000.

The Deputy Clerk will work with the Clerk to take strategic and operational management responsibility for the Council in order to provide services and facilities for the community. The Deputy Clerk will have responsibility for some of the Council’s committees as well as heading up the administrative function including provision of an Information Office for members of the public.
The Deputy Clerk will assist the Clerk in developing and implementing strategy, policy, plans and budgets for the council in conjunction with our members
Duties will include:
- Manage projects for the Council within the prescribed parameters and resources
- Support members of the Council through advice and guidance
- Have responsibility for at least two committees of the Council and deputise for the Clerk for full Council meetings and other committees where needed
- Devise and maintain office system to ensure the smooth operation of the Council
- Provide reports and advice for the Council, Committees and external bodies as required
- Support the Clerk in actively seeking alternative sources of funding and new income generation opportunities for the Council
- Work with the Clerk to identify training needs for both staff and members and source appropriate training courses
- Have overall responsibility for the provision of allotments in the Parish
- Be an integral part of the senior management team
- Deputise for the Clerk where required to manage the staff team
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- To hold, or within 2 years of appointment have attained, the CiLCA qualification
- Demonstrable experience of managing projects
- Experience of supervising staff
- Have an understanding of financial procedures including budgeting and bidding for external funds
- Able and willing to work evenings as required for council meetings (1-2 per month)
- Competent in using IT systems and knowledge of social media/websites
- Previous experience in a town/parish council is desirable
